Holy Name of Jesus School - New Rochelle, New York
As part of their service project for Confirmation, students at Holy Name of Jesus decided to take on a group project to raise awareness about mission needs in our nation. Several groups designed posters using stories and pictures from EXTENSION Magazine. They went from classroom to classroom, spreading the "Good News" and the story of America's missionaries and asked the classes to help.
In the lunchrooms, they set up tables with the slogan, "Give change to make a change" to encourage their fellow students to sacrifice their snack money to help their Parish Partner, Santa Monica in El Cenizo, Texas.

Children watched the Catholic Extension's video, "The Invisible Church," which traces the activities of three missionaries. Even the smallest child remained quiet and watched the entire movie. The students were excited to know that their read-a-thon was helping a missionary buy fuel for his plane or helping people build the church they need.

In the Dioceses of Cincinnati, Louisville, Madison, Oakland, Paterson and Rockville Centre, a Catholic Extension field representative is available to speak to your parish or school about the work of Catholic Extension. Email Bridget Monahan to request a field representative to visit your parish or school."Catholic Extension is a very inspiring organization. I wish I could someday have the courage and the opportunity to do what the sisters and priests do for the people."
"I found the movie very informative and eye opening. I truly respect all these people who have dedicated their lives for this type of ministry and it has inspired me to do with my life what helps others."
"I honestly did not know that there were missions here in the United States. I admire and respect the women mentioned in the magazine."
"The movie was inspiring because it makes me want to help people. Even if I can't go out there, I think I should still help the people in my community any way I can."
"From what I saw on the tape and in the magazine, it inspires others to follow in their (missionaries) footsteps. If I were to meet one of them, I would tell them how I admire what strong faith they have to give up other things in life to help others."
